"When I think of Martin Luther King, Jr., one thing comes to mind: equality. I'm not only referring to equality of humans based on their skin color, but the broad differences amongst us that people find challenging to accept and embrace," states Sheila Frampton-Cooper, curator for the exhibition, Expressions in Equality at Visions Art Museum: Contemporary Quilts + Textiles. The exhibition opens with a reception for the 25 artists on January 17th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Frampton-Cooper wants to bring attention to discrimination and the way society treats issues such as gender, age, sexual orientation, and economic inequality.
