Emily Richardson will be featured in an exhibition at Visions Art Quilt Gallery from September 4 to November 1, 2009.

She will also teach a workshop "Painting and Composition" Saturday from 10:00 to 4:00. In addition, Emily will conduct a walk through lecture and tour of her exhibition from 1:00 to 2:30. The lecture is included in the all-day workshop.

Emily's artwork has appeared internationally in numerous exhibitions including Quilt National, Fiberarts International, Oxymorons: Absurdly Logical Quilts,Visions, Art Quilts: America at the Millennium, and Quilt Expo VII in Strasbourg, France. Her quilts have been exhibited at the Museum of American Art in Washington D.C., the Netherlands Textile Museum, and the American Museum of Quilts and Textiles.

Her pieces are in corporate and private collections including the Museum of Arts and Design in NY, and the International Quilt Study Center in Nebraska. She is the recipient of the 1997 Leeway Award for Excellence in Fiberarts, and a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. She is also the Quilt Visions 2004 "Quilts Japan" prize winner sponsored by Nihon Vogue.

Emily has a background in fashion and costuming and has been creating art quilts for over 20 years. She has taught workshops on the creative process and composition in such places as Quilting by the Lake in Morrisville, NY, the Quilt/Surface Design Symposium in Ohio, Patchwork Quilt seminar in Irsee, Germany, and Nihon Vogue in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. She is a featured artist at the Gross McCleaf Gallery.
